You step off the bus in the soft blue light of Arctic winter.
It’s unlike anything you have ever seen or felt before.
It’s quiet. The kind of quiet that feels ancient.
And then you see them: Our fluffy reindeer stand there in the snow – giving you one slow blink that clearly means: “Snacks? Yes? No?” It’s the front door to our real life.

The Gaup family
Nils Peder I. Gaup, founder of The Samiway AS, grew up in reindeer husbandry and has worked with reindeer all his life. His knowledge is learned on the tundra, beside his family, caring for reindeer through every season and challenge the Arctic brings.
He’s known for his warm personality and his ability to make even the coldest winter day feel welcoming. From royalty to business travelers to families on their first Arctic adventure, he meets everyone with humor, patience, and stories that stay with you long after the tour ends.
During your time with us in Nordkjosbotn, you get a glimpse into Sámi culture through his voice, his experiences, and his deep love for the reindeer. In our small groups, you’re not lost in a crowd. You’re part of a moment, a warm, authentic meeting between the old Arctic way of life and your own curiosity.
